Interview: Wale – Attention Deficit

ad2I caught up with Allido Records/Interscope recording artist Wale for a couple of minutes today right after he posted the name of his next release, Attention Deficit, up on Twitter. Wale gave me a few answers to questions I had about the album and explained the reasoning behind the title.

RS: Where did the idea for the album title come from?

Wale: It came from my heart…lol. But for real, music is so disposable – nobody pays attention and I’m trying to change it.

RS: That being said are you focusing on making this a concept album? The title definitely makes it seem that way.

Wale: Sonically conceptual because songs blend literally. We may use the same baseline for tracks three and four then switch it.

RS: And lyrically? I would think lyrics would take precedence over music on an album with a title like that.

Wale: Lyrically it’s just about a lot of stuff…almost as if I was A.D.D. (which I am prolly) I don’t cover the same ground.

RS: I’ve got to say…the A.D.D. Emcee would be been a pretty good album title. Thanks for talking.

Wale’s upcoming album, Attention Deficit, is set to come out this summer. For more information on Wale visit his page HERE.
